The certification recognizes the skills, knowledge and experience of I&R providers and demonstrates that an individual has achieved the professional standards of practice in I&R.
InformCanada administers the InformUSA Certification program in Canada for two Information and Referral (I&R) specializations :
- Community Resource Specialist (CRS)
- Community Resource Specialist – Database Curator (CRS-DC)
To be certified, candidates must successfully pass the certification exam.
ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible to write the exam, I&R practitioners (paid or volunteer) are required the following combination of experience and education:
- Applicants with at least an undergraduate degree : 1 year employment in I&R (equivalent to 1,000 volunteer hours)
- Applicants with at least a college diploma : 2 years employment in I&R (equivalent to 2,000 volunteer hours)
- Applicants with at least a high school certificate : 3 years employment in I&R (equivalent to 3,000 volunteers hours)
- Applicants without educational qualifications or who cannot prove their educational attainment (equivalent to 5,000 volunteer hours)

Examity as an alternate to attending an Exam Site
- Examity is an online proctoring option via webcam and high-speed internet connection. There is an additional $30USD fee that must be paid to Examity.
