Highlights from the 2015 AGM

InformCanada AGM was held on Jun 4 2015.  Highlights of the year include:

InformCanada reviewed and solidified its governance model with three new committees, governance, engagement and Strategy to help move the work of InformCanada forward. The engagement committee of the Board of Directors will be distributing a survey to the membership requesting input on the 2016 CCIRC. You are requested to look for the email and provide your input into the future of the CCIRC.

InformCanada Board of Directors moved a statement in principle that reads:  InformCanada is committed to supporting and strengthening information and referral standards in both official languages for the benefit of its members and the public that they serve. InformCanada will play an active role in determining priorities in improving member’s ability to access quality French tools and supports and will work towards developing mechanisms to ensure that these tools are produced with a focus on quality and efficiency.

In keeping with the move to make InformCanada more accessible in French the ABC’s of I&R have now been translated into French after a great deal of work and collaboration between partners in Ontario and Quebec. Organizational members should have received their copy by email.  During the course of the year, the newest version of the Canadian English ABCs of I&R and a French version of Standards were also completed.

InformCanada, in collaboration with United Way Centraide Canada and Ontario 211 Services, has been actively engaged in facilitated discussions on 211 Pan Canadian System Design. Several in person national dialogues have occurred moving us towards national agreement on the beginning of a Pan Canadian 211 model and a draft logic model. All active 211 regions across Canada have been engaged and there is a commitment from all to move forward on better collaboration, communication and innovation.
