Join us in historic Quebec City for the 2012 Canadian Community Information and Referral Conference (CCIRC). The conference will run Sunday Oct 28 to Tuesday Oct 30. This year’s conference is being hosted by the Centre d’information et de référence(CIR) in collaboration with InformCanada. The theme is Gateway to Innovation.
The conference starts on Sunday Oct 28 with an opening reception, followed by two full days of learning. Monday will kick off with, Mr Gaétan Morency, Vice President Service citoyenneté/Global citizenship service from the Cirque de Soleil. His talk entitled The Cirque du Soleil: Community Engagement, Innovation and Social Change will explain how their actions contribute to social change. The founders had dreamed of changing the world… one Community at a time.
The professional development workshops offered over two days will focus on three streams: Aging and Volunteer; I&R Service Delivery; and, I&R Executive. The workshop include Implementing the Volunteer Experience Recognition program, Creating a Mystery Caller Program, Coping in Times of Change and the Role of 211 in an Emergency. The conference will wrap up with a presentation on Building a National Network: the new 211 Canada Vision.
I&R is enhanced through professional standardization, accreditation and certification. The conference workshops can be used by Certified I&R providers as professional development hours for their recertification. For those wanting to write the certification exam there is an exam set for Sunday Oct 28. All exam applications must be received by September 28 at the InformCanada office as indicated on the exam application. Click for a copy of the Exam Application. Both the Information and Referral Specialist CIRS and Resource Specialist CRS exam will be available.
The 2012 CCIRC will provide you with an opportunity to:

- A chance to get your AIRS Certification and training towards your recertification.
